Mountain Climbing

Prior to starting my last year of high school I went to camp as a counsellor. In the end, they put me in the tripping staff. We would be in charge of all camping trips and excursions.

Which translated to not much to do.

So they trained us for assorted jobs around the camp. To my surprise, our second week of training, we were taken to the climbing wall where we were certified as climbing instructors.

This was my first time ever climbing a wall, and now I was going to be the one in charge of it.

After only one day of training.

I learned a lot that summer about myself, including that I was totally able to adapt to any situation. Even climbing an unexpected mountain.

And, most of all, I could help others climb their own mountains.

Exercise:

Write a story about two people climbing a mountain (either literal or figurative). What happens when one falters? How does the other character help her reach the peak?
